A Battle Lost, A War Won

"Though a mighty army surrounds me, my heart will not be afraid. Even if I am attacked, I will remain confident." Psalm 27:3 (NLT)

As Christians we tend to think just because satan is gaining ground in a battle he will automatically win the war. This is false. Even though the devil may wound us it is God who will win the war every time. Being a Christian does not mean you won’t get beat up. Being a Christian does not mean you won’t lose ground from time to time. No, being a Christian means that in despite of your wounds you won’t lose hope. The devil’s goal is to weaken you to the point of being ineffective for Christ. When we fail, we must learn from it and allow God to forge us into stronger warriors – not give up and surrender to the enemy.

Take a look at what Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 4:8-10 (NLT):

"We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed. Through suffering, our bodies continue to share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies."

Don’t confuse Christianity with ease. Don’t think there aren’t lions waiting to devour you on God’s path. Rather than abandon God in the middle of trial, cling to Him. He is using those lions to build up your spiritual strength. Just as David was a shepherd before he was a king, God is quite possibly building you up right now in the most unexpected ways. Embrace adversity, because through it you will find a spiritual strength that can bring down strong holds, move mountains, and change the world.
